John BostainJohn Bostain is a Public Safety Training Specialist with Relias Learning focusing on blended learning and learning management solutions for law enforcement agencies.  He began his career with the Hampton Police Division (HPD) in Hampton, Virginia where he served as a Uniformed Patrol Officer, Narcotics investigator, Academy Instructor, Detective, and Patrol supervisor.  He also served on the departmental S.W.A.T. Team and Bike Patrol Unit and held instructor state certifications in driving, defensive tactics, and firearms.

After leaving HPD in 2001, John spent 13 years at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA serving as an Instructor and Senior Instructor for Defensive Tactics, Patrol Procedures, Use of Force, and Training Management.  During his time at FLETC, John became a nationally recognized trainer instructing more than 10,000 Police Officers at State, Local, and Federal Levels with a primary focus is on Use of Force, Officer Safety, and Instructor Development.  He is also a National Core Instructor for the Below 100 program.

In 2012, John became the recipient of the prestigious “Law Officer Magazine Trainer of the Year” Award.  He’s Certified as a Force Analyst by the Force Science Institute and created the Calibre Press Courses “Anatomy of Force Incidents”, “Ultimate FTO”, and Cell Block Survival”.   John is also an Advisory Board Member for the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA).
